Playing on the latest snapshot allows a sneak-peak at what the Mojang devs have been working on. This guide will show you how to enable them through the launcher.
What’s a snapshot?
Snapshots are development releases, that show new features that Mojang are working on. By releasing them, Mojang can fix bugs before the full release, helping to make the game more stable. It’s not a rule, but generally new snapshots are released on a Wednesday.
How to play the latest snapshot.
Please remember that these aren’t release versions, there will be bugs. Make sure you have a backup of any world you want to load in the snapshot, before you load it.
Open the Minecraft launcher and click Installations.
Tick the checkbox next to snapshots
Press Play next to the new profile: Latest snapshot.
And that’s it! You can enjoy the latest features in Minecraft: Java Edition.
You’re likely going to experience some bugs when playing a snapshot. You can help the devs by reporting these bugs on the bug tracker. Search the tracker first, to make sure your bug hasn’t been reported already.
