Minecraft: Java edition not loading

If you’re having trouble getting Minecraft to load there’s a few things you can try, to get it working again. Try each of the steps in order, moving on to the next step if it doesn’t fix your issue.

1 – Run an adware scan.

By far the most common reason for Minecraft failing to load, is adware infection.

Thankfully, the fix is pretty simple:

  • Check your installed programs for “Premier Opinion” and/or “Relevant Knowledge” and remove them if they’re installed.
  • Run an adware scan with AdwCleaner.

2 – Check your PC for incompatible programs.

The next most common issue is having incompatible programs installed when you’re running Minecraft.

Check your PC for any programs on this list, and take any action recommended on that page. The most common incompatible programs are:

  • GeForce Experience.
    • Disable the overlay to resolve.
  • Discord
    • Disable the overlay to resolve.

3 – Reinstall Minecraft.

If the above steps don’t work, it may suggest a file problem, or config error. You can follow our guide here to reinstall Minecraft by recreating the .minecraft folder.
