MCL-14369 | Changing your DNS servers on Windows 10

Due to a launcher bug you may be advised to change your DNS servers. If you’re on Windows 10 you can follow the steps below to switch to Google DNS.

  • Search Control Panel in the desktop search bar and open it.
  • Click Network and Internet.
  • Click Network and sharing center.
  • Click Change adapter settings in the left pane.
  • Right click your current network connection and choose Properties
  • Select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then click properties.

  • Select Use the following DNS server addresses.
  • In preferred type
  • In alternate type
  • Click OK on both windows to save the changes.

Your computer will start using the new DNS servers straight away. Restart Minecraft if it’s open, and it should connect and let you play.

If you still need help, head over to r/Minecrafthelp and make a new post, one of us will be happy to talk you through it.
