If you want to run your own Minecraft: Java Edition server, you need to get your hands on the Minecraft server jar, that matches the version you want to play. In this guide, I’ll show you two easy ways to download the required files to your PC.
Method One: MCVersions.net
Arguably the easiest way to get the Minecraft server jars is by downloading them via the links on MCversions.net. Open the website, click on your required version, then click Download Server Jar. The jar file will then be downloaded to your device.
Method Two: The Minecraft Launcher
Links to server jar files are available in the vanilla Minecraft Launcher.
Open the launcher and click Installations. From there, either, create a new profile with the required version, or edit an existing profile. Click SERVER above the versions drop-down list to download the relevant server jar file.
