How to add more RAM to Minecraft

If your game is crashing with Out of memory errors, or, you’re playing modded Minecraft and need to allocate more RAM, this guide will show you how.

For any Minecraft gameplay, you should have at least 2GB allocated.
If you’re expecting more intense gameplay, or have a world with a lot of redstone machines, or mob farms, you should consider a minimum of 4GB or even 6GB.

Most mod packs recommend a certain amount of RAM, for best results you should aim to allocate at least that amount.
